Four Directions

ON THE SHORES OF BRAS D’OR LAKE, POTLOTEK IS A SMALL MI’KMAQ FIRST NATION LOCATED IN CAPE BRETON, NOVA SCOTIA.

Surrounded by the water and trees of Canada’s breathtaking east coast, the Darkspark team soaked up some beautiful spring days in Potlotek. This was our second time in this community, and we loved returning to welcoming faces. We even had one of our alumni students sit in while songwriting to assist his peers in the process!

While there, our team collaborated with Mi’kmaw language specialist Anne Marie Marchand, teacher Pam MacDonald and a group of 10 outstanding Mi’kmaw youth from Potlotek, who shared many things with us about their community and what affects them.
